6-26-14

I ask the moon,
have you seen the day?
Maybe that was a stupid question.

Hovering over empty streets,
he pries on the unknown.
His tragic flaws shine
upon solemn faces.

Darkness hums
a poor lullaby,
the light dismissing him
just as quickly as he came.

Live

Live in the moment,
for it will be gone
in just the next.

Listen to the silence.

Feel the emptiness.

See the darkness.

Taste the plainness.

Breathe the air.

If it takes everything in you,
don't let it go.

Writer's Block

I hate my journal
for the stacks of blank pages
taunting me

pages
my pencil dances above
but does so little
to touch

Negative Space

If life

is all about

the bright lights,

what about

the dark spaces?

The negative space.

What if the excess

became the necessary;

the unknown,

a common place?

Could we transpose

our thoughts;

the paths we take,

the things we see

and hear?

Escape the periphery.

What lies

in the blank spaces,

between the lines?

Something

left undiscovered,

to discover.

1-16-14

This week in my English class, we studied poetry including only a single idea and using as little words as possible. The result is my inspiration to edit a simple poem I wrote a few weeks ago...

The thick becomes more intense.
I am still here;
enduring.

A beaming light;
a hope.

I know the flame
on the other side
won't flicker.

1-14-14

When your vision is flooded with darkness,
Clear the fog;
Search for the light,
But don't trust your sight.

Listen to your own breathing;
Hear yourself living,
Being.

Your heart is still beating,
Your eyes still seeing;
Even if on the inside,
you're bleeding.

Remove your cloak of shame;
Learn your own name.
There is more beyond what we see;
It's not yet your time to leave.
